Become a Foster

Foster with Chilliwack Animal Safe Haven

Open Your Home. Change a Life.

Fostering gives cats and kittens the safety, comfort, and care they need while they prepare for adoption or receive ongoing medical support.

Fostering is one of the most meaningful ways to help.

By opening your home temporarily, you give cats the safety, comfort, and love they need while they wait for their forever family. For some, it is a chance to grow strong in a home instead of a shelter. For others, it is a place to heal and recover.

Why fostering matters

Every foster home helps us save more lives.

When a cat is placed in foster care, it opens up space at Safe Haven for another cat in need. Fosters provide one-on-one care, stability, and a home environment that is especially important for kittens and medical cases.

Find the right fit for your home.

We offer different types of foster placements, and our team will work to find the right fit for your home and comfort level.

Short-Term Fosters

Temporary fosters are essential for some of our most vulnerable cats, especially kittens under 12 weeks who need a loving home environment to grow and thrive.

As a short-term foster, you may help care for:

  • Weaned kittens between 5 and 12 weeks
  • Pregnant cats and moms with newborns
  • Orphaned kittens needing bottle feeding
  • Cats with short-term medical needs

Medical Fosters

Some cats need a little more support along the way. Our Medical Foster program is designed for cats who require ongoing care due to age, medical needs, or special circumstances.

Safe Haven continues to cover their veterinary care, allowing you to focus on providing love, comfort, and a peaceful home. In many cases, these placements are long-term or lifelong.
