Start Searching Right Away.
Losing a pet is scary and overwhelming. Take a breath. There are important steps you can take right now to help bring them home.
Do not wait to begin looking.
Many lost animals are closer to home than people realize. Searching carefully, sharing clear information, and checking local resources can make all the difference.
Start close to where they went missing.
Walk or drive through your neighbourhood several times a day, especially early in the morning and at dusk when it is quieter.
Look low, high, and under things
Bring a flashlight and check under decks, bushes, vehicles, sheds, stairs, and porches. Remember to look up as well.
Call gently and use familiar sounds
Call your pet’s name, shake a treat bag, or use a familiar sound they know. Stay calm and listen carefully.
Ask your neighbours
Ask neighbours, mail carriers, nearby businesses, and people in the area to keep watch and check garages, sheds, yards, and bushes.
Put up posters
Include a clear photo, description, location lost, date missing, and your contact information.
