Looking for a Lost Cat?

We want to help them get home.
Stray cats may be lost, abandoned, or simply unable to find their way back to their family. This page helps community members check for cats currently safe at the shelter.
Stray cats at the Safe Haven.
This list is powered by Shelterluv and updates as cats enter our care. If you recognize a cat, please contact us with identifying details and proof of ownership.
What happens when Safe Haven receives a stray cat?
All cats that come into the shelter receive an intake exam and intake treatments, including parasite control and vaccines. If a stray cat needs urgent veterinary care, we ensure they receive it immediately.
We check for permanent ID
Cats are checked for permanent identification, and we attempt to contact the owner associated with that ID.
There is a 4-day stray hold
The owner, or a confirmed person acting on their behalf, has 4 calendar days to redeem the cat before the cat is considered abandoned and may be made available for adoption.
Strays are posted publicly
Stray cats are posted to our website, and possibly social media, with the location they were found for the duration of the required stray hold.
After the stray hold
After the 4-calendar-day stray hold, cats are evaluated, and Safe Haven will use its best judgment in placing them. This may include transferring cats to another rescue for adoption.
What happens if the cat is in critical distress?
If a veterinarian determines that an animal is in critical distress, they have the authority to humanely end the animal’s suffering.
Critical distress means the animal is suffering severely.
This may include situations where:
- Immediate veterinary treatment would not be enough to save the animal’s life
- Trying to prolong the animal’s life would cause unnecessary pain and suffering
